A Bit About Me

Chavaysha Chaney is a problem solver, an advocate, and a firm believer that real change starts with the people it impacts most. She knows firsthand that strong communities are built through leadership that listens, takes action, and fights for real solutions—not just surface-level fixes.
Born and raised in the Hill District, Chavaysha saw what happens when decisions are made about a community instead of with it. That experience shaped her commitment to ensuring residents have a voice in the policies that affect their daily lives. She took that passion to the University of Louisville, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a track in Public Policy and Law—giving her the tools to navigate government systems and push for policies that truly serve the people.

Chavaysha has worked alongside families, small business owners, and local leaders, cutting through red tape to bring real resources into communities like Wilkinsburg. She’s led efforts to secure funding for affordable housing, infrastructure, and public health initiatives, making sure that government works for the people—not the other way around.

Beyond her professional work, Chavaysha is deeply involved in community service. She has served on multiple boards, led grassroots advocacy efforts, and helped organize initiatives focused on housing equity, environmental justice, and youth engagement. Her work has contributed to policy changes and funding opportunities that directly improve the quality of life in historically overlooked neighborhoods.

Her experience isn’t just about working in government—it’s about making government work for the people. She understands that leadership means being present, accessible, and accountable. It means not just hearing concerns, but actively addressing them with real solutions.

Chavaysha is running for Wilkinsburg Council because she believes in a future built by the people who live here. With a strong background in policy, a heart for community service, and a track record of getting things done, she’s ready to bring bold ideas, fresh energy, and a people-first approach to local government.

A stronger Wilkinsburg starts with leadership that works for you. Let’s build it together.
